Mixed Up Manic Monday

Hi creative friends! I got all caught up with Inspiration
Wednesday so I thought I would share my take on the last few weeks.  I'll start with my favorite, the most recent.

There is so much I love about this page: the color combo of cobalt teal and quinacridone nickel azo gold, mixing in the white with my finger, the peeks of book text and black numbers from the layers, and the addition of pencil around the circles and the raised text.
April 27
I also love when something doesn't work but I find a way to make it even better!  In this case, I didn't have the rub-on sticky words but had the foil.  So I tried to use sticky embossing powder and a word stamp but I couldn't read the word.  I found that the foil stuck to the painted surface because it was still a bit sticky so I used the end of my paintbrush and scribbled some words and lines through the gold foil and it stayed put!

This is the week when Donna used the Poppy napkins.  Obviously, I didn't have any flowery napkins, but I did have lots of gel plated deli paper. I picked a black and white geometric pattern and used Seth Apter stencils for the words and outlined them with black pencil.  Love the lines at the bottom.

I used another gel print on this page.  I actually had some of that bleeding tissue and had not used it yet, so that was fun!  My favorite thing is the animal on the dictionary page I used.  It's called a Gnu-a large African antelope. :)

When I saw the blue dripping, I thought about water and how much I love the ocean.  I had some of those sticky rub-ons in ocean shapes but no words so I went with that and hand wrote the quote.

I call this one the "Hot Mess" page and with any luck, Donna will have us redo one like last year.  I do like the quote, "Time flies. It's up to you to be the navigator."

Thanks for visiting my blog today.  I love comments so don't be shy!

Finishing Inspiration Wednesday for 2015

Here are my final journal pages for the 2015 Inspiration Wednesday class:

This one should be entitle, Hot Mess! But I love the idea behind it. I wrote a word on each of those tags and most of them got covered up.  Some of the words are: homo, klutz, emotional, liberal, unchurched, retard...you get the idea.

I dripped High Flow acrylics with water to help the paint move.  I LOVE how this one turned out.

I'm not sure how I ended up with an extra page at the end! I used Seth Apter's Stencil Girl stencil with molding paste and LOVE how this turned out.

Here is the completed journal:

And here is the one for 2016:

It already has some paint on it because I was using this cover for the second half of last year so I could work with just one signature in a journal at a time to reduce the bulk.  I combined those signature together when I was finished for 2015 and made my own signatures for the new year.

Don't forget to comment below. I'd love to hear what you thought of the class, etc.

Thanks for visiting my blog!

Catching Up on Inspiration Wednesday

I got really behind with Inspiration Wednesday and spent a few days catching up.  So I thought I would share my completed pages. Those of you who take the online class will know a bit more about these pages.  For those who don't, Inspiration Wednesday is a bi-weekly art journal class online taught by Donna Downey.  Click on the link to find out more information.

7-08

This one is a tribute to my constant companion, Lucy, my long haired dachshund.  My daughter used to draw pictures of her and I wanted to copy her since I didn't have an original. I also decided to use 2 inspiration journals instead of adding another signature to one.  So this is the first page in the second one.

7-22

This one is just so weird looking.  I used papers that I had made a long time ago using National Geographic magazine pages and CitiSolv cleaning concentrate.  If you want to know more about this process, check it out here.

8-08

First of all, I LOVE using fabric in this journal.  It really strengthens the pages and gives me a pattern to work with.  You can hardly tell that I used a black and cream butterfly pattern because I piled on so many layers.  I love this page and am doing a canvas that I will share in another post.

8-22

This page is one of my favorites.  I used some Chinese newspaper for the image transfer on one side and book text on the other.  The newspaper worked great so I will be using that again! I used a Stencil Girl globe stencil for the large circles.

9-02

Another favorite, this one was surprisingly easier than I though.  I plan on putting this on a canvas in the future too.

9-16

I used a few deli paper gelli prints for the background of this one then found this sketch of a face that I made a while back, cut it out and slapped it on.  Added some gesso and yellow paint, the stamp and the tag and was done.  Fastest one so far! It's a bit chaotic, but I love the bright colors.

9-30

I didn't have the same stencil so I used a circle stencil with another stencil inside the circle.  I used word stamps but went over them with a calligraphy dip pen and india ink, which worked out well.

10-14

I love how I am using lots of things I have laying around in this process!  I especially like the tag above that I had embossed and put in a drawer.  It worked out perfectly for catching colored glaze in the nooks and crannies!  I added some copper and gold paint to some of the raised areas, and the stamp, "you will shine".

I'd love to hear from you so leave your comments below and let me know which one is your favorite!
